Theater-19 is an oral history project that seeks to discover and document the lived experiences of theater workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The project is designed to evolve as the world does but at its core it is an effort to create a holistic and personal understanding of the theater industry in this moment as well as an historical archive for future use by scholars and artists. We are interviewing artistic and administrative workers from every theatrical discipline and organization and we are particularly interested in interviewing early- and mid-career theater workers. The project will conduct follow-up interviews annually over the next three to five years in order to trace the long term effects of the pandemic on the industry.
